Suicide Prevention Nottinghamshire
Suicide Prevention – Financial Worries session
Our next session for 2023 will be on financial worries. It’s taking place on Wednesday 24 May, 10am-12noon on MS Teams. Book your space here.
The cost of living is having an impact on all of us and, for many, is causing worry and anxiety. Suicide is complex and there are often many factors involved but we do know there can be a link with financial worries.
This session will explore these links and consider what we can do as stakeholders to help support those who are affected. Come along on 24 May and find out more. The session will include:
- An overview of the links between suicide and financial worries
- Hearing from the Nottinghamshire County Council Benefits team covering a range of useful information
- How Citizens Advice can help – Sally Bestwick, Chief Exec of Citizens Advice, Broxtowe
- The impact of illegal money lending – Vinnie Jarman from the Illegal Money Lending Team
- How gambling can affect suicide – James Grimes, Head of Education from Gambling with Lives
- Support for people with financial worries after bereavement by suicide – Pooja from SOBS
- Opportunities for questions and answers
Our network is aimed at anyone working or volunteering in Nottingham/Nottinghamshire for an organisation/group who support people who may be at risk of suicide.
The session will take place on MS Teams – links will be sent out prior to the session taking place to all those who have booked a place.
