Patient care across barriers: delivering the DMS effectively workshop facilitated by Liam Stapleton and Mike Jones

This workshop has been designed to help contractors deliver the service effectively + engage with colleagues from hospital and GP practice

The DMS is an essential service. If you receive a DMS referral you are required to action it or notify the hospital if you don’t provide services to the patient. Failure to do so could result in a remedial notice being issued by the ICS, and this can lead to penalties. You may also be liable to litigation if you have received a referral and not viewed it, resulting in some harm to the patient.

Nottingham University Hospitals is planning to increase these referrals over the summer and focus on discharges of paediatric patients. It is vital, therefore, that you ensure referrals are actioned in good time in your pharmacy.

This workshop has been designed to help contractors deliver the service effectively. It will focus on the operation of the service, how we can communicate with colleagues across sectors, to deliver effective patient care. It will give you the opportunity to discuss your successes and barriers with colleagues and engage with colleagues from hospital and GP practice pharmacy to make the service work locally.
