Health Literacy – 02.07.19
2nd July 2019 7pm – 9pm
Holiday Inn, South Normanton, (formerly The Derbyshire Hotel)
NHS England and NHS Improvement – Midlands are hosting a Health Literacy training event for Community Pharmacists, led by Tania Cork, Chief Officer of North Staffordshire & Stoke LPC.
43% and 61% of English working age adults routinely do not understand basic health information. Is it therefore any wonder that 30 -50% of prescribed medicines are not taken as intended by the prescriber?
Tania Cork has studied how community pharmacists can improve health literacy and make a difference to patients with some great results. This is an opportunity to learn how you can communicate better and improve health literacy for your patients, leading to improved compliance with medicines and health promotion advice.
The training session will be held on 02 July 2019, at the Holiday Inn South Normanton, (formerly The Derbyshire Hotel). Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm – 7pm and the training will run from 7pm – 9pm.
We are limited to 20 training spaces, which will be allocated on a first come, first service basis. If you would like to attend training please email Francesca.barnes1@nhs.net, including your name, contact email and contact number, which pharmacy you are based at, and any dietary requirements.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact Francesca at the above email address.
