Neighbourhood Health
Neighbourhood health is being used to guide the local NHS and local authority providers to work in a more collaborative and seamless way to provide person centred care closer to where people live in a prioritised way. Across Nottinghamshire plans are being developed to do just that and your LPC has been working closely with many of the leaders of these teams to help them understand how our community pharmacies across Nottinghamshire could be involved in supporting these teams to deliver neighbourhood health. Over the coming months you will begin to hear more about developments both nationally and locally and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mike Jones at the LPC mikejones@cpnotts.org.
National context: new guidance published
On 17 March, two significant national documents were published that set the direction for neighbourhood health across England:
- The Neighbourhood Health Framework — published by DHSC and NHS England. This sets out the common description of neighbourhood health, national goals and metrics, and the minimum actions ICBs are expected to deliver from April 2026. You can read it here: Neighbourhood Health Framework
- Fit for the Future: towards population health delivery models — published by NHS England. This describes new contract types — single neighbourhood providers, multi-neighbourhood providers, and integrated health organisations — that will shape how care is commissioned and delivered around defined populations. You can read it here: Fit for the Future
Reading these national documents will give you a great introduction to the direction of travel and the development of neighbourhood health.
Local updates
We will add the local neighbourhoods here when we have more details and contact pharmacies in the areas with updates when needed. Documents are being produced to help contractors with local conversations when they ask for pharmacy to become involved and will be added to the this page.
